October Message from the Master

Fraternal Greetings to one and all. As summer is about to end and fall is about to come, Alki Lodge No. 152 remains busy and active in our activities.

We just had such a remarkable time on our last September 1st Stated Meeting. The event was dubbed as a Western night, the attire was Western outfit and the food was prepared Western style. Most importantly, the event was highlighted by the Official Visit of the Grand Master of the Most Worshipful Grand Lodge of F & AM of Washington, MWB Douglas E. Tucker and his Lady Glynis. They were joined by the Deputy Grand Master, RW Gale H. Kenney, Senior Grand Warden, RW G. Santy Lascano and his Lady Cely and a great number of Grand Lodge Appointed Officers and Committee Men.

Though the event fell on a three-day weekend and Monday being a Labor Day holiday, we did not fall short on attendance. Our caterer, the Order of the Eastern Star, Crown Chapter had served over a hundred people with the help of the Order of Rainbow Girls, Assembly #18. Our sincere thanks to them for preparing such a great and sumptuous dinner. We also extend our appreciation to the “Small Pet Advisory Band” for providing us the entertainment with their superbly blended voices and great instrumental blue grass band music during dinner time. Our special thanks to the band members which consists of WB Greg Martin (banjo), WB Charles P. Kincy (fiddle), WB Joseph Orlando IV (dobro or slide guitar), Sis Cheryl Hammond (guitar), Sis Barbara Martin (mandolin) and Sis Kristin Dycus (base guitar). They are Past Matrons and Past Patrons of OES, Delta Chapter #109 except for Sis Kristin who is currently an Associate Matron.

The event will not be a success without the tremendous effort of the event coordinators; VWB Scott Wells, VWB R. John Bozeat, VWB Tee Squant-Nee Jackson and VWB Alden D. Sarmiento and of course, with the help of our Past Masters.

The Lady of the GM, Lady Glynis Tucker, in a collaborative effort with Lady Diane McQuery, introduced the quilt project that they have been working on for charity. They are offering a very nice quilt as a raffle prize. Raffle tickets are available thru Lady Diane McQuery for $5.00 per 3 tickets. Prize drawing wiill be done during the next Annual Communication.

While the Brethren were in the Lodge Room, the Ladies were busy working on their project in the dining hall, preparing a special seasoning consisting of different herbs soaked in a nice bottle of olive oil. The project was introduced by Sis Jane Dusatko. Once again, thanks Sis Jane.

Three petitions for the degrees of Masonry were read and investigating teams were by assigned by WB Alan R. Sawyer, Chairman of the Investigation and Coaching Committee. Entered Apprentice Degree conferral to start October 20th.

A memorial was held for WB Harold Jay Wallain, (passed away July 11th) Bro. Robert Lee Wilson (passed away July 26th) and Bro. Wilbur Morgan Johnson (passed away June 14th). A short dedication ceremony to the Tree of Life was held in memory of WB Harold Jay Wallain and Bro. Robert Lee Wilson right after the meeting.

Our congratulations to Bro. Alex P. Madlangbayan for his excellent delivery of the 3rd degree Posting Lecture. He passed the Proficiency Test with flying colors.

The Grand Master’s pitch was short and simple but echoed a great message to the Brethren and Ladies. Thank you so very much, MW Sir. Our lives were enriched with your great presence and wholesome spirit of true fellowship.

We congratulate the recipients of Alki Lodge No. 152 Outstanding Service Award:

Moreover, Alki Lodge No. 152 Charity Committee, through it’s Chairman, WB Bob Shoemaker, presented a donation in the amount of $200.00 to the favorite charity of the Lady of the Grand Master, Glynis Tucker, the American Diabetes Association. Sis Cecilia DeJesus also presented an advance birthday gift to Lady Glynis who celebrated her birthday last September 16th. Finally, as a token of appreciation, a Western memento was presented to the Grand Master by the WM.
