The Consolidation of West Seattle Lodge, Service Lodge, and Alki Lodge

February Monitor Entry

The month of January was a great start for the events at Alki Lodge No. 152. The Stated Communication held in January 7th was a blast. Members and guests were all delighted to watch the Stop n’ Go performed on the opening and closing rituals and how effective VWB Alden D. Sarmiento in policing our standard work execution. It was indeed a very productive exercise for the officers of the lodge.

The meeting would not have been successful without the participation of VWB Jim Mendoza who spoke splendidly about the Effective Execution of Standard Work, emphasizing the significance of the endeavor and the techniques on how to manage memory work.

Alki Lodge No. 152 welcomes our new plural members, namely: WB Charles Kincy, Bro. Jim Nalley and Bro. Joseph Nally.

The establishment of a new DeMolay Chapter in West Seattle has started to gain momentum with great support of Alki Lodge No. 152 members. The basic manpower structure had been formed and such accomplishment was brought about by the consolidated effort of Bro. Alex Aanderud, our Youth Committee Chairman, Bro. Michael Sawyer, MWB James Reid, Jr and WB Frank Rhinehart who made an intuitive presentation at the meeting.

It was an exciting moment to see a good number of Ladies joining us for dinner and fellowship. Sister Jane Dusatko had really brought excitement to the crowd when she demonstrated her expertise in making different kinds of greeting cards. The ladies had also made plans for their activities in the next few months. Sister Kendall Spridgeon will do an art demo next month.

Our special thanks to our assigned Past Masters for providing a succulent and bountiful dinner and to the members who supplemented the dinner with their home-made specialties.

We wish to extend our heartfelt appreciation to our webmaster, WB David Brown for updating our website. You may now view our complete set of activities for the year 2008 on http://alki152.org/

As the month of February is fast approaching, the excitement builds up everyday. You might wonder why and what the brethren of Alki Lodge #152 is all excited about. Well, you know, the No. 1 Mason in the State of Washington is paying his official visit to Alki Lodge No. 152 on February 4, 2008. Yes, Yes, Yes, MWB Wayne I. Smith will be our Honorable Guest Speaker in our second Stated Communication for the year. Isn’t that slick? Planning early really makes sense and it pays off. Again, thanks to the Wardens Seminar.

The event will have a catered dinner at 6:15 PM, so if you are interested in joining us in this grand fellowship, please send an early RSVP to our Event Coordinator, VWB Scott Wells (annscottw@msn.com) or to our Junior Warden, Bro. Michael Mann (jw@alki152.org) or call 206-255-2750. As usual, the Ladies are encouraged to join us. MWB Wayne I. Smith has indicated that he will tailor his speech to suit both the brethren and the ladies.
