The Consolidation of West Seattle Lodge, Service Lodge, and Alki Lodge

January Monitor Entry

The brethren of Alki #152 are riding high after celebrating 100 years of masonry in West Seattle, the successful consolidation of West Seattle Service lodge and the installation of Officers for the ensuing year. As Master I eagerly await the challenges that I am sure will come.

It has been my experience that in any important undertaking it is easy to suffer from the paralysis of analysis. In preparing for every possible contingency we lose sight of the ultimate goal. To combat this all too common affliction I have employed is the KISS principle - Also known as Keep It Simple Stupid.

The ultimate goal of likely everyone who is reading these words is to see Freemasonry in general, and specifically our respective lodges thrive. This year, at Alki we will achieve this broad goal through simplification. For example instead of the traditional assortment of committees that seldom make reports we will have much fewer but significantly more active committees.

I believe that our collective success will be proportionate to the degree that we incorporate healthy measures of fun and fellowship in our endeavors. I do not believe that I have all of the answers. I have not considered every possible contingency. I am however, confident that together we will meet and overcome any obstacle. May the new year bring you and yours peace and prosperity.
